NTT DoCoMo announced that the company will establish the Smart Communication Services Department on April 1, 2011, aiming to strengthen the company's Smartphone business, according to a March 28, 2011 press release by DoCoMo. The new department is reported to be in charge of security enhancement, content and mobile web portals, and mobile multi-media service planning and development.

In related news, DoCoMo also announced on the same day the release of the Optimus Pad L-o6C, a tablet device powered by the Android 3.0 operating system, according to the DoCoMo press release again. It is reported that the new product will be sold throughout Japan starting from March 31, 2011.
